Sorry things have been a bit crazy over here so I haven’t put this up in a while. Here is the latest Fishing Report with Deputy Don and Leaf discussing fires, community and yes of course fishing.

Smash, Bang and Boom! That’s pretty much how it’s going right now, the weather is HOT and the fishing is great right now. We are hitting the peak of the hopper hatch and the water is getting low and slow which always has a way of concentrating fish into some select holes.
My approach has stayed more or less the same with only the hours changing a bit. Since the mornings are still a bit cool I am still matching small bug hatches with complimenting size and color stimulators but with the first sun hitting the water or air temp above 75 I am switching right over to the big foam.

Don’t waste time with slow water right now fish need the surface cover and O2 in the moving water. As well fish will hang along deep banks and good rock or wood structure. All sections of the river are fishing well right now and keep in mind the Twisp and Chewuch Rivers will close August 15th so this will be the last two weeks of the season to take advantage of these great tribs.

My approach to fishing the tribs is more or less the same as the Met just a bit smaller bugs, short leader and finer tippets. The Twisp fishing well through-out the day and the Chewuch comes to life in the evening.

As well this is prime time for the high-mountain lakes to beat the heat, take in some great views and catch some beautiful fish. Methow Fishing Adventures partners with Backcountry Safaris here in the Methow to get people into the backcountry as well. If you are interested in booking a trip in the lowland, highland, still or moving waters of the Methow Valley just drop us a line or give a call to (509) 429-7298 we’ll get you out on the water and having fun!

Well it’s been one hell of a week or two but tings are starting to get back to normal. I’ve had a few chances to get out on the water and it has felt very nice. The weather I hot and the smoke has cleared and the grasshoppers are hitting the water so you know what that means.

Mornings have started with PMD and Trico hatches, afternoons hopers and evening / early morning olden Stones are taking to wing. I like to start the day with stemi’s (yellow or olive size 14) as the day warms hoppers have been the hit and toward evening the goldens.

Weekly Methow Fishing Report – Carlton Complex Report

Well it’s been crazy here, my family and I lost our house (but not our home) in a forest fire a few days ago. My family and I are safe and it happened while I was on the water so I have my boats and with all the love and support we have received I feel it of utmost importance to relay my desire to see help brought to all of those who need it as the hardship for some has just begun.

I will be spending my time this week in volunteer mode and may get back to trips after that, right now family and community will come first for a while. That’s right…this fish man is taking some time off the water (so you know it’s bad) will check in next week with ya’ll.

Please if you can find any way to help this community of ours here this is a good way. http://www.youcaring.com/help-a-neighbor/carlton-complex-fire-relief-fund/206282

See yo back on the water in a while.
