Methow Fishing Report

Robins, Redwings and Killdeer, the signs of spring are piling up as the piles of snow are melting down. Fishing as I stated in last week’s report remains good but has changed a bit. Flows are rising with daily temps and this has led to some tribs dumping some dirty water, as well the salmon snot is breaking loose from the rocks and floating in the stream in chunks as big as a trout in some cases leading to hooks coming in looking like you’ve hooked a sculpin made of snot.

Fish defiantly charging to the spawning grounds which can make targeting them hit or miss, if some of your classic go to spots aren’t performing don’t hesitate to move on. Right now it seems when you are on them you are and when you’re not it’s an empty salmon snot covered whole so keep moving until you find them.

In the last few days I have still hit fish from the bottom few miles of river all the way to Winthrop. Moon cycle is headed towards full so look for the bight to be an early and late thing, maybe go have a beer at the pub mid-day rather than thrashing away at fickle fish.
